Pay per brief. Nothing recurring.
Briefing Desk draws the shared Ounie credit wallet — the same one every Ounie product uses. There is no plan, no seat count and no monthly minimum, and because nothing here runs on a schedule, nothing can charge you while you are not looking.
- Reads up to 20 pages published inside your window
- Every item carries a source index that resolves to a real page
- Rank it through up to five of your Ounie brains — retrieval is never metered
- Re-read, list and export forever at no cost
- Nothing published in the window? Refunded, pool-exact
- No account, no key, no signup — one HTTP call
- 1.2× the credit price, quoted in the 402 response itself
- Paste your own text as the ranking lens instead of a brain
- Verified, then run, then settled — a thin brief never settles
- Bad input is refused with a 4xx before you are asked to sign
Where 12 credits comes from
One brief is a live search across your window, a read of every page it returns, and one synthesis pass. The search is the expensive half and it is the variable half: reading twenty pages costs materially more than reading five, and the price is flat either way.
| What happens | Cost to us | Billed |
|---|---|---|
| Search the window and read the pages | ~$0.005–0.010 | — |
| One synthesis pass over what was read | $0.00045 | — |
| One finished brief | ≈ $0.0105 | 12 credits |
| Re-reading it, in any format | $0 | Free |
| Reading your brains as the lens | $0 | Free |
| A window with nothing in it | paid anyway | Refunded |
We publish the cost basis because the margin is the argument: it funds the search budget, the citation guard that throws work away, and the refunds on every run that comes back empty.
Unused reserves come back
A brief reserves its price up front and settles on what was actually produced. Any difference is refunded pool-exact — to the same credit pools it came from, in reverse drain order — so an included monthly credit never quietly becomes a purchased one.
Thin is a real answer
If nothing was published on your topic in the window, or nothing in what came back anchored to a citable source, you get an honest empty answer and your credits back. On the keyless rail there is no refund possible, so the same checks run before any payment settles.
Nothing recurring, by design
No schedules, no subscriptions, no alerts, no stored watchlists. One call, one brief. If you want a brief every morning, call the API every morning — the schedule stays yours, and so does the ability to stop it.
The questions we get first.
Can I schedule a daily brief?
Where do the facts come from?
What happens if an item cites a source that does not exist?
What does it cost?
When am I not charged?
What does connecting an Ounie brain actually do?
How is this different from Ounie's Auto-Research?
Is my data used to train anything?
